Huntress - A Solitaire Card Game

Uses a standard 52 playing card deck

Setup

Layout 36 cards in a 3 by 3 grid of 4 card stacks, face up. These are the targets. Place the remaining 16 cards in a face down draw pile. These are your rounds.

Gameplay

1. Draw a card from your rounds and place it face up in a discard pile.

2. Draw the top card from one of the 9 target stacks, whose rank is equal to, one greater than, or one less than, the card you drew in step 1. Aces are both 1 and 14 in rank. Discard the card you took from the target grid. If this is impossible, go back to step 1.

3. Repeat step 2, using the most recent card you drew instead of the card from step 1, until you can’t. At that point, go back to step 1.

4. Repeat until either you (A) run out of rounds or (B) run out of targets. Your final score is the number of rounds you haven’t drawn. If you run out of rounds before all targets have been discarded, you lose.
